April 14, 2010
Welcome statement by Karen Dwyer at 7 am
Mission statement read by Connie Undem
Presentation of WIC employee of the year by Connie Undem to Mary Brambo (side note prior day 2nd employee of the year award given to State WIC office)
Treasures report by Vicki Holbrook: checking $3688.88 money market $9893.11
Vicki reviewed membership numbers discussion to move $3000 to CD from money market: motion by Linda B second by Shirley. motion carried. Vicki will take care of this.
Election of Officers: President Elect needed open floor for nominees nominated Mary Pittaway and Arwine Weilander and Maggie Petaja Paper vote. With Maggie Petaja taking the vote.
Successes of MAWA this year presented by Vicki T: OA grant, Breastmilk/formula towers, items that were completed from survey.
Future Studies Group: Budgeting and regionalization Linda Best is representing WIC
Voting on MAWA Proposals:
- continuing education coordinator MAWA would like to create this position to provide nutrition education opportunities to the general membership Motion carried to create position
- Alter Bi laws as to when dues will be collected moving from October to April do match up with the General meeting motion carried.
Awarding of Mini grants: approved one mini grant to Phillips county WIC for DVD player and Shredder. Discussed how to apply for mini grants, Encouraged all agencies to apply for next round of awards in the fall.
Words from state staff. Joan spoke regarding update on M-spirit. More up grade to come in May
Lora Weir representing MPHA talking about awards MPHA give out and how may of the WIC staff would be eligible for these if they were just nominated. MPHA would also like to put a link from their website to a MAWA link. Linda Best agreed to spearhead this effort.
